1. Data controller details
Data controller: Attila Szőke, sole proprietor
Registered office: 2544 Neszmély, Hungary
Email: kapcsolat@happybirds.hu
Website: happybirds.hu
2. Technical data and server logs
When you visit the website, the system may process technical data, such as server log files.
Data processed (typically): IP address, browser and device information, date and time of the visit, requested page URL, and error codes.
Purpose: operation, security, troubleshooting, and prevention of abuse.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website.
Retention: The hosting provider processes log data for the period specified in its own privacy notice. ININET Privacy Notice
3. Contact and messaging
If you contact us through the contact form, by direct email, or through a messaging application, we may process the following data.
Data processed: name, email address, phone number if provided, message content, date and time, and technical data required for the secure operation of the form, such as the IP address and submission time.
Purpose: communication, answering questions, coordination, handling enquiries related to birds, their care or purchase, and preventing abuse and spam submissions.
Legal basis: taking steps at the user’s request and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and maintaining the secure operation of the website.
How the form works: data submitted through the contact form is processed by HappyBirds.hu’s own server-side PHP handler. The system may apply basic validation and spam-protection measures, such as checking required fields, matching email addresses, using a hidden honeypot field, filtering submissions sent too quickly or repeatedly, and detecting suspicious content. The enquiry is then forwarded by email through an authenticated SMTP connection.
Automatic confirmation: after the form has been submitted, the system may send an automatic confirmation email to the address provided, confirming that the message has been received.
Data processors: the hosting and email service providers participate in the technical operation of the website and email delivery. Incoming messages may be processed in the HappyBirds.hu contact mailbox and in the Gmail email system used for correspondence.
Data transfers: contact messages are delivered to the contact email address and, depending on the configuration, may be forwarded to the Gmail account used for correspondence. The website does not use an external form-receiving service to process contact messages.
Retention: We retain incoming enquiries for 12 months after the enquiry has been closed, unless a longer retention period is necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims. Form data is not stored in a separate website database; enquiries are processed as emails. Technical data used to prevent abuse is processed only for as long as necessary.
4. Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
The website may use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure website traffic.
When does analytics start? GA4 is activated only if the visitor enables the “Analytics (GA4)” category in the cookie banner or selects “Accept”.
Data processed (typically): online identifiers, such as cookies or other identifiers, device and browser information, and page-view events.
Purpose: creating statistics and improving the website and its usability.
Legal basis: consent, which may be withdrawn at any time.
Data processor: Google.
International data transfers: due to the provider’s operation, data may be transferred outside the European Union, subject to the applicable safeguards.
Retention: according to the retention period configured in the GA4 account: 14 months.
5. Embedded external content (YouTube and Google Maps)
The website may contain embedded YouTube videos and Google Maps. These are third-party services. When the content is loaded, the provider may process technical data and place cookies or other identifiers.
Consent management:
• If the visitor accepts cookies by selecting “Accept”, or enables the “External content (YouTube, Google Maps)” category, embedded content may load automatically.
• If consent is rejected, a notice is displayed in place of the video or map, and the content loads only after the visitor selects the corresponding “Load” button.
6. Managing and changing consent
Consent can be given through the cookie banner and changed at any time through the “Cookie settings” option at the bottom of the website.
7. Data subject rights and complaints
Data subjects may request, among other things, access to their personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and may object to processing or withdraw their consent at any time.
A complaint may be lodged with the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH).
Cookie Policy
1. What are cookies?
Cookies and similar technologies are small data files or identifiers that may be stored in your browser. Some are necessary for the website to function, while others support analytics or the loading of external content.
2. Which categories do we use?
Necessary (always active): required for the basic operation of the website. This includes remembering your consent preferences.
Analytics (GA4): used to create website traffic and usage statistics. It is activated only after consent has been given.
External content (YouTube, Google Maps): used to display embedded videos and maps. After it has been enabled, the third-party provider may use cookies or other identifiers.
3. How is consent given?
• “Accept”: enables the Analytics (GA4) and External content (YouTube, Google Maps) categories.
• “Reject”: analytics does not start and external content does not load automatically.
• “Settings / Save”: allows you to choose separately which categories you wish to enable.
Individual loading: if consent has been rejected, a specific YouTube video or Google Maps embed can still be viewed by selecting the “Load” button displayed in place of the content.
4. How long is consent valid?
Your consent decision is stored by the website in your browser using localStorage. The setting remains valid until you delete your browser data or change your choice through the “Cookie settings” option at the bottom of the website.
5. Short cookie list
The cookies and identifiers used may vary depending on the configuration. In general:
• GA4 (analytics): identifiers such as _ga and _ga_*; event data is retained for 14 months.
• YouTube / Google Maps (external content): when embedded content is loaded, the provider may use its own cookies or identifiers.
